This session was a dream.
Let me start by saying their sweet, sweet son Dustin, gifted them with this anniversary session. THE SWEETEST YA'LL <3
We had so much fun during this session. Julie was very much into her creative side and came prepared! LOVE IT. They were completely natural in front of the camera. They exuded love and romance. They made me want to work harder at my marriage ya'll. This is what 40 years looks like.
Roger and Julie Kindly gave me a snippet of their story to share. <3. Prepare yourself.
" Our love story began on December 14, 1974. Roger and Julie met at the Sam Rayburn basketball tournament. Julie was talking to another boy and then they got to talk for a short time before her basketball team left to go home. After Julie got home she told her mother about the boy she met. Her mother encouraged her to write him a letter to Delmar School where he attended. Julie could only remember his name was Roger Mc….? She looked in the tournament program to get his full name.Julie wrote the first letter to Roger on December 16, 1974 c/o Delmar High School. Shortly afterward Roger wrote Julie back and they continued to write off and on through high school. One week they would receive 2 letters and the next week 3 letters. The price of a stamp was 10 cents.
The second time they saw each other was when Delmar School went to the Bonham Skating Rink in March of 1975. Julie’s parents brought her to the skating rink. So this was the first time Roger met her parents. Later that summer they started going to the race track in Bells with Roger’s family.
Roger and Julie’s story continued with a lot of letters and a few long distance phone calls (once a week). There were no cell phones or computers to e-mail with.
They got married on June 2, 1978 at DeShong Chapel in Paris, TX. Their first home was in Brookston, TX. All their neighbors referred to them as the “the Kids”. They paid $50.00 a month for their rent and Roger was making $2.00 an hour working at Sambo’s Restaurant.
Their love story continues on as they build new memories to cherish with their 3 children and 8 grandchildren. They love spending time together even if it is working in the garden or hiking the Harding Ice Field in Alaska. They give God the glory for the love he put in them for each other and putting them together. They hope and pray that their children and grandchildren may know the love of God and find their perfect mate.
And now they are ready to write their next chapter…..
Just Married 40 years."
Just last year Alannah went into labor at 25 weeks with their first baby girl, Ophelia Grace. She fought hard for 49 days.
Nearly 14 months later and her sister made her way into their arms. Miss Alessia Hope Pannell made her way earthside at 7:07am on April 22. She was 7lbs 4oz 20 inches long.
A perfect miracle and answered prayer.
April's 5 seconds everyday monthly film project
It's crazy how different everyones birth story is. Even siblings have a story of their own. This is the story of Kyler Steel. Born on his daddys birthday! Congrats Jackson family <3
Oh, this sweet family!
I have known Autumn for several years now and I was so thrilled when she contacted me about doing a session for her beautiful family.
Not only did we play and have an awesome time documenting them as a family, but we also got to reveal a huge surprise! Check it out...
Congratulations Porter family! So excited for you guys!
February's 5 seconds everyday film project
This year one of my photography goals was to learn more about film. In doing so I decided to take on an everyday project. I'm going to take a 5 second clip of our lives everyday and make a monthly film.
This is what I am passionate about, documenting the everyday. Those moments that seem so small, but in the end, mean so much. They make time stand still. You remember it. Everything about it. The smell, the feeling, the time. One of my favorite things to do is go through old photo books and home videos at my grandmothers house. It makes me smile, laugh, cry. It's like I am a kid again and back in those moments. I want that for my kids. I want them to remember and have the same nostalgic feeling that I get.
It's hard to believe January has come and gone. Another year started. Another month down.
Last year I took on a 52 week project called #MOMLIFE.
It was all about getting in the frame with my kids and documenting our moments together. I'm so thankful I took this project on...not gonna lie... this made me tear up. Sweet, genuine moments of being a mom. I hope my kids can look back on these projects one day and be thankful that they have these memories to hold on to.
PS- Get in the frame ; )
Over the next few weeks I'm going to discuss the what, how, ins, outs, and details of Storytelling photography as told by me.
I know several people have never even heard of storytelling so let's start this week off with the what.
What exactly is storytelling photography?
Let's blow the dust off the dictionary and define some key words.
Story - an account of events, past or present, in someones life
Telling - to give an account or narrative of; narrate; relate
Storytelling - the telling or writing of stories.
Storytelling photography is a form of art that documents special, important, and/or ordinary events in life.
It tells your story. Pausing a moment in time. Moments you can cherish for years.
It is authentic, honest, real, raw, genuine, connective, emotive, detailed, intimate.
When you see it, you feel it.
It ignites something inside you.
Storytelling photography is NOT forced, manipulated, staged, posed, stiff.
It isn't your average in the box photography session.
It's the complete opposite.
It's your life in all it's glory. The messy, the perfect, the small, the large, and everything in between.
Storytelling photography can document a wide, vast variety of moments in your life.
The possibilities are endless.
From Births, family outings, date night, cooking with grandmas, holiday traditions, hunting trips and so much more. It's these moments, these spots in time that I am passionate about capturing. It's these stories, your stories, captured, shown in digital art form. That is storytelling photography.
The idea of having all these special moments, all the details, captured to look back on. To show my kids. To show my grandkids. It makes me heart incredibly happy. To be able to offer that to other people in the world is true Joy.
Your story, your life, captured for years.
Contact me today and let's capture those amazing moments for you and your family.
Be sure to check back next week for more info on storytelling photography.
